Yummilicious Foodies

 So last February i went to Levain for the first time with some friends.
I always knew KL has a bunch of unique restaurants but i could never seem to find them.
Levain is a bungalow house turn self service restaurant/bakery in Jalan Delima near Jalan Imbi. Levain's bakery users a real Stone Oven to bake their breads everyday and not your typical electrical oven. The place opens from morning till night probably from 8am to 9 or 10pm.
 These little treats are Macaroons and they're Levain's signature treat.
I didn't get to buy them when i was there but will definitely try it the next time.

For those who think these are colorful fishballs, ping pong balls, bouncing balls, marbles and whatever balls.
STOP because you're ruining it.
This is a traditional Chinese dessert called Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Balls)

My friends and i were making TangYuan at my house one day not because we felt like it. We were making it for an assignment and we ended having fun making them. It’s not hard to make actually.

Tang Yuan is usually eaten together with family during the Lantern Festival, Chap Goh Meh, or Dong Zhi (winter solstice). The round shape of the balls and the bowls where they are served, come to symbolize the family togetherness or wholesome and unity. By eating tangyuan, it signifies that we will be a year older.

In the entire country of Malaysia,
THIS IS THE BEST BURGER EVER !!!

NINJA JOE !!!
VERY NON-HALAL
IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT, YOU'RE CHICKEN

So far the only Ninja Joe outlets i know is in Tropicana City, Mid Valley and opening soon in Sunway Pyramid. I can't wait for it to over take McDonald's in Malaysia. You wanna know why? Let's say you - yes you reading this blog post now - Have you ever seen a PORK burger in any fast food restaurants in Malaysia? No right? Because you're asking for a death wish if you suddenly sell McPork in McD.
Malays = Halal + Pork = VERY NON HALAL
So you see how happy i was when Ninja Joe outlets started to franchise because now non Muslims can enjoy another meat burger.

My first time eating in Theobroma Chocolate Lounge and it was so
SATISFYING !!!
I drank their signature cup of hot chocolate
I went for Fair Lady (Belgium Milk Chocolate) in Mug N' Warmer then for my dish i ate Seafood Spaghetti Olio-olio and it was so yummilicious !!! The place is quite pricey but it's worth spending a little more and spoiling yourself once in awhile.

Mighty Jug of Fruit Juice - Good for Digestion (RM18)

Pasta with Unagi on top of a bed of stirred mushrooms and egg~ Mmm RM26 (Not Set)
Mini Pasta with Teriyaki Chicken and Poach egg
Mini Salad Pasta with Crab Meat and sesame seed oil dressing~
 Hotate (scallop) Pizza like thing (Came together with the mini teriyaki pasta)
Choco Banana RM15
From top to bottom - Whipped cream, banana, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, corn flakes, banana, more corn flakes and chocolate powder~

This is another pricey restaurant but worth every cent to go try it out.
There's an outlet in 1Utama and another in Mid Valley, NOT The Gardens because my friends and i got lost trying to find Pasta Zanmai in The Gardens and only found SUSHI Zanmai. We eventually found the freaking Zanmai~

21st Birthdays

 5 years old is when you begin to explore new areas

7 years old is when you begin to mingle with new people

13 years old is when you venture deeper into the things you thought you knew

18 years old is when you officially get to watch 18SX, 18PA, 18PL, 18SG movies.
In another words, you get to watch blood, gore and sex scenes movies.
But since we're in Malaysia, it doesn't matter if you're 18 or not because the censorship standards here's a bloody buzz kill so even if you're watching Underworld or Resident Evil or maybe an Adam Sandler movie with a hot kiss scene, everything that's inappropriate...

WILL BE CENSORED !!!

Even Twilight: New Moon's little kiss scene outside Bella's house after her birthday...

CENSORED !!!

What the fuck right??
Might as well download or watch online.
But this isn't what i was intending to blog about.
I just remembered a friend's presentation on Malaysia's censorship.

21 years old is when you're officially legal to step into a club, but most teens these days don't really oblige to this age thingy. I hear 17 year old kids are already clubbing as long they have the correct looks, dress code and height.

This year is my 21st year.
Yippee !! Year 1990 kids are adults !!!
Most of my friends are throwing birthday parties they don't normally throw.
Some of them are making dinner reservations in an expensive Japanese buffet restaurant.
And some like me just don't see the point of all this.
It's just another birthday that comes and goes every year.
Everyone's asking each other how are they gonna celebrate.

How am I gonna celebrate mine next month?
I honestly have no idea.
Have a two session outing with college and high school friends?
Maybe.

1:20 AM & Counting

My legs feel like a bulldozer just went over them.
This is the aftereffect of strolling the night market.
Guess this is what i get for not exercising much.

It's not just my legs that are hurting.
I'm hurting and i feel bad about it.
It's killing me because it's Thursday.
I came to dread Thursdays ever since the third week of this semester.

I am what Mr Ken calls, the passenger, in a group work.
I didn't mean to be the passenger.
This is the first time I'm the outsider of a group that has always been group.
I feel like I'm not being heard and I'm scared to say it twice.
I guess this is what they call insecurities of oneself.
I guess i understand how those other 'outsiders' felt when they had to team up with my group last time.

There will never be an 'us' between an outsider and the group unless they click.
I've clicked nicely with most of the groups I've been with.
The differences is that the group i was with wasn't a group.
They were just like me, put together to work as a team, so we clicked.
But this group is a group and we -me and them - don't click.

So to everyone out there who has nothing to do but read my thoughts here,
Be nice and try to include the outsider in your group and make them feel a part of it.
I'm sure they will be grateful for it.

TRUST ME...

Chris Medina - What Are Words

You are a cruel heartless person if you say you didn't feel a thing after listening to this song.

"What Are Words" is a song about making promises and Chris Medina sang this for his fiancee, Juliana, who was in a car accident and is currently suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Chris first appeared on American Idol Season 10 where he told his story to the judges about his fiancee. He sang The Script's Break Even and blew Randy, J.Lo and Steve Tyler away. He did so well that they asked him to bring Julie in to meet her. It was so touching and no matter how many times i watch it back in Youtube i end up with tears.

Chris stood by with Juliana even after her accident.
Chris is a big man because i don't know what I'll do if i were him.

My First Local Movie in Cinema

I have never...
In my entire...
20 years and 11 months to be exact ...
Watched a local produced film in a cinema...
 Until yesterday...

Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa
I don't know whether to praise and tease the movie or just simply tease the movie.

This movie is Malaysia's first foreign language historical film.
I read in Wikipedia that this movie is actually about Kedah and it's first King.
There were Indians *only in the beginning of the movie*, Romans, Chinese, and Malays.
The bad guy of this movie is half of a Malay clan called Geruda so Merong who suddenly became King of the other half of the Malay clan together with the Romans and Chinese worked together to dispose of the Gerudas and save China's Princess/Rome's Prince Marcus's fiancee~

Chinese don't sound like Chinese
Malay don't sound like Malays
Lucky English sound like English
But Tamil no Tamil but got Tamil accent~

I think they hired pure "bananas" to act as the Chinese because once they opened their mouths to speak...me and my friends started laughing like shit !!! WTH is wrong with their Chinese??? And their soldiers have damn modern hair cuts. SPIKY !!! MOHAWKS !!! And the way they act were too modernize...especially the Roman prince, Marcus. What is with his body postures? Shoulders slouching, hands flinging, head swinging, showing attitudes, VERY ungraceful. No wonder his father kicked him out to marry China's princess. And their armor look like my brother's old plastic armor toy. The abs looked damn fake !!!

China's princess, her MALAY sounds better than Merong speaking Malay !!! Apparently China is multilingual in this movie because the princess and her maid can speak Chinese, English, BM and Latin. The only problem was their English sounded like the way Phua Chu Kang's Ah Ma speak !!! SERIOUS !!! Especially the princess's maid....i swear i thought she was PCK's Ah Ma without Ah Ma's makeup. You do know Ah Ma isn't really an Ah Ma? She's actually young and have real authentic BLACK hair.

Now about Merong, he really looks and SOUNDS like my lecturer Zan Azlee !!
He was the comedian and hero in the movie. He's English is better than his Malay and Chinese is better than the "banana" Chinese Admiral !!! OMG lucky i wasn't drinking at that moment !!!
During the last battle scene was awkward because Merong made this laser beam made out of mirrors and with help of the sun's rays, the Gerudas looked damn fake falling into the water. It was damn obvious they counted to three and jumped in willingly.

I'd say the movie wasn't so bad lah~
They did spent RM8mill on it.

I thought it was gonna be a serious emotional film. Who would have thought we would be laughing our asses out in the cinema. Before i forget, the whole cinema was packed with Malays except us 4 noisy Chinese girls laughing every time the actors sound weird with their languages. Seriously damn funny !!!

I Got News For Yer'

NEVER suddenly come up to me and say these words;
"I have news for you" or "I got something i wanna tell you"

I don't know why but it just scares the hell out of me.
It's like the calm before the storm~ or...
Like telling someone "HEADS UP !!!!!" before getting hit in the head...or...
I ran over you cat, sorry...

For whatever the reason, I hate that sentence.
1st thing that comes to mind is
B.A.D N.E.W.S

What I Do When I'm Bored

It must be the hair.
Doesn't Kellan look less intimidating with black hair?
Here we see Kellan Lutz as Poseidon in the movie Immortals.
Another movie about the Greek Gods and this time Zeus is at war with a mad king named Hyperion. Zeus commands Theseus and his fellow Greek gods to go fight with the mad king, who aspires to free and unleash The Titans, the banished predecessors to the reigning pantheon of deities.

Poseidon has never been so hot. If he gets any hotter than Kellan Lutz he'll boil up the entire ocean. Even Poseidon from "The Lightning Thief" wasn't anywhere near this Poseidon. He was an old man~ This is a little unfair because I'm comparing Calvin Klein's underwear model (now designer) to an old man.

Jamie Bower Campbell as King Arthur in a new series, Camelot.
I was always fascinated by the stories, movies, cartoons and whatever with Camelot. The knights of the round table, Excalibur, King Arthur and who could forget Merlin. There was a cartoon or a series about Camelot a very long time ago. I've forgotten about.

Synopsis: In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future and installs Arthur as king. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end for control of the crown. Faced with the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination.

"Abduction"
What would you do if you found your own picture on a missing persons website? Teen Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finds himself facing this very dilemma. Setting out to uncover his real identity, Nathan quickly learns his parents are far from who they say they are. When the police, government agents and shadowy figures start to pursue him, Nathan’s quest for the truth erupts into a full-blown, “Bourne”-like man-on-the-run thriller.

Speaking of Bourne, Taylor looks awful lot like the Bourne man himself, Matt Damon, on the motorbike And what is with dating your co-stars? Yes, Taylor Lautner is dating Lily Collins, it has been for quite awhile now. Did you know Taylor didn't know how to ride a bike until he filmed New Moon?

Robert Pattinson, nope i prefer Edward Cullen.
I think it's because he's British. OMG !!! Hahaha !!!
Water For Elephants, i didn't know it was a movie about a circus until i actually read the reviews and stuffs online. I thought it was a movie about getting water for elephants during a drought in Africa or something. Can you believe that?

Enough of my silliness, WFE is about *yes i finally know what the movie is about* an old man, Jacob Jankwoski, reminiscing about his younger days when he worked in a circus. He meets with a beautiful circus performer Marleen (Reese Witherspoon) who is also the wife of the charismatic but twisted animal trainer, August. And the title of movie isn't just for show because there's really an elephant in the movie named Rosie. * No stop thinking of Rosie from PCK*

Does this look like Kristen Stewart to you?
She looks different right?
No so lesbian drug addict like in The Runaways anymore with jet black hair and pale white skin with super thick mascara and eyeliner.

So K.Stew got the leading role for the movie Snow White & the Huntsman.
This isn't your typical Snow White where you see helpless girl gets chased, almost getting killed but escapes, meet 7 chibi guys, kills the witch and gets her prince charming. No.

This is a whole different version of Snow White.
Ever heard of the Brothers Grimm? Me neither.
 The two brothers, Jakob & Wilhelm Grimm (German, 1800-ish), collected folk tales from peasants and storytellers and made it into the Brothers Grimm...or something like that. According to Wikipedia, the Brothers Grimm might be the origins of some of our most favorite fairy tale cartoons. There's Hansel and Gretal, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White * No there's no Little Mermaid or Lion King*. The stories told were not like our lives-happily-ever-after versions. In order to make money, they had to twist the stories to be childproof-to-watch.

The movie will go like this,
The Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) calls upon The Huntsman (Viggo Mortensen), to try to kill Snow White (K.Stew) . The Huntsman, who is haunted by the death of his wife by a white wolf, goes off to kill the innocent princess but then has a change of heart. He decides to mentor her and teach her to fight off The Evil Queen, thus turning her into a legendary heroine.

Not your typical damsel in distress right?
Snow White becomes a whole new ass kicking bitch.
Am i the fairest of them all?
HELL YES !!!

BREAKING DAWN !!
NESSIE & BELLA, AREN'T THEY CUTE !!!!!????
I don't think that kid's Mackenzie Foy, she's 9-10 and that kid's like 4.

Filming of of Breaking Dawn had to be delayed and the cast had to be evacuated from Vancouver for safety precautions because of the earthquake in Japan last Friday (March 11, 2011). Let's hope Japan can recover from this unfortunate disaster.

On a Rainy Afternoon Day

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It must be the rain.
Yes i sure it must be the rain because i feel so lazy...
Ok so I'm blaming the weather for my laziness...
I can't believe it took me so long to realize The Script has some pretty nice songs.
Here i am staring at my laptop hoping something fun will pop out.
It's raining outside so no point going out.
My music player moves on to it's next song after Kris Allen's "Send me all your angels" to The Script's "Break Even". I can't stop listening to it ever since Chris Medina sang it on American Idol. To bad he got cut.
Break Even, We Cry, Before the Worse are just a few of The Script's songs...
O' Have I Finally Found It
For the past three years I've been telling myself that I love to make videos.
I tell myself I'm gonna make a hit in the film industry.
I tell myself I'm gonna be freaking world wide famous *That's so cheesy !!!*
But reality hit me one day and i realized that making videos wasn't my real passion.
The reason why i thought i loved it was because every time when i had to make a video, i make it just to entertain the audience. That's it ! Nothing more ! It's just a hobby ! No deep fiery passion for it !
If you know me, you'd see that in every video I've made for my assignments, there's always a hint of humor in them. Unless the topic is straight forward enough to understand that adding humor will only destroy the whole original idea.
But nevertheless !! I came to conclude that i was in denial for what i was really passionate about and I'm as sure as hell it wasn't film making. What i really have passion for it this ! Words ! I wouldn't have started this blog if i didn't enjoy words. I've always been good in English essays *Don't mention my BM & Chinese*. And to think i used to suck up to my English teachers because of that without realizing it.
I was circling the drains for sometime thinking whether i was making the right choice in my life. I even resorted to seeking advice from a lecturer - which I NEVER do - who graduated from her studies not too long ago. I gave up waiting for my friends to give me a comforting answer or a solution. Not in her exact words, but i do recall her saying something like "Go for it if you feel the passion for it". I felt that i knew what to do after my talk with her. I'm just scared to take the plunge. What if it doesn't turnout good? What if i regret my decision? What if everyone else succeed in life and i fail?
*Why the hell am i such a pessimist ??*
She said she knew i was a good writer. A freelance writer from TheStar also said i have what it takes to be a writer. Yea i was lucky enough to cross paths with this cool person during one of my MWS assignments. I send her a very random and informal email asking if i could conduct an email interview with her. She was so impressed by my email and asked if she could use it in one of her articles. This is the first time i was taken seriously for anything i did.
Thank Alexandra.
I guess the thought of me thinking that i had a passion for films wasn't completely wrong. I would say it was misdirected. Maybe what i wanted to do was not to direct it but to write for it. I should really start to learn and use more deep meaningful words.
